The Benazir Undergraduate Scholarship Programme 2024, established by the Government of Pakistan, aims to support students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds who have successfully passed their matriculation examinations but lack the means to pursue further education.
Access to quality education remains unevenly distributed in Pakistan, with only 10% of students receiving national-level education, leaving a mere four percent enrolled in educational institutions currently.
Recognizing the importance of education, the government of Pakistan has prioritized initiatives to provide free education to economically disadvantaged students within the country.
Benazir Undergraduate Scholarship Program 2024 New Update:
The federal government of Pakistan has expanded the program to benefit 92,000 students, allocating a budget of 6 billion rupees in the June 2024 budget. This significant investment underscores the government’s commitment to higher education accessibility.
The primary aim of this expansion is to offer educational opportunities to students who have completed their tenth-grade examinations. By providing substantial BISP scholarships, the government aims to ensure equitable access to higher education for all eligible students.
What Are the Objectives of the Undergraduate Scholarship Programme 2024:
Aligned with the government’s policy, the Benazir Undergraduate Scholarship Program aims to provide financial aid to students who face barriers to continuing their education due to financial constraints.
Key objectives include:
- Provision of higher education opportunities for women.
- Allocation of 50% of educational scholarships to female students.
- Reservation of 2% of scholarships for students with disabilities, facilitating their pursuit of higher education.
Eligibility Criteria for the Benazir Undergraduate Scholarship:
The government of Pakistan has established specific eligibility criteria for the Benazir Undergraduate Scholarship Program:
- Enrollment in public sector universities recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in the fall semester of 2024.
- Adherence to university policies and accurate submission of required information.
- Admission is based solely on merit.
- Compliance with HEC program authorization.
- Adherence to age limits as per policy guidelines.
Required Documents for the Benazir Undergraduate Scholarship 2024:
Applicants must submit the following documents after completing the online application process:
- Copy of applicant’s B. Form / CNIC
- Copies of CNIC (Mother, Father/Guardian)
- Salary Slip / Income Certificate (Father/Guardian, Mother)
- Undertaking of Income Certificate on stamp paper (if applicable)
- Copies of the last six months’ utility bills (Electricity, Gas, Telephone, Water) (if applicable)
- Copy of rent agreement for rented accommodations
- Copies of last fee receipts of applicant and siblings (if applicable)
- Copies of medical bills/expenditure-related documents (if applicable)
- One passport-sized photograph of the applicant
- One picture of the house from the outside front
